Speech Therapy Or A Translator?

Ella has definitely found her voice lately. Unfortunately, we aren't sure what language she is speaking. In this video she is "running" around trying to find her sister and yelling the whole time. But she will talk away like this in the car, the store, all day long. There are some English words thrown in there and there are definitely some consistencies in her other language words. I would just like to know who is teaching her this language....does anyone else's child speak this language :)

That is just adorable! Ella always brings a huge smile to my face! If you find a translator, please let me know, but I think you will have to learn this new language yourself. She seems quite convinced that she has created a great language and I don't doubt that she has!

Oh you sweet pinkety chimp of a thing. LC has full conversations on her cell phone (a pack of dental floss) completely with hand gestures and dramatic voice inflections and ONLY utilizes the "DA" syllable. Makes me crazy and her speech therapists weep. Love it. Way to go, Sweet E!

Hi Denise, I've been following your blog for a while now. Ella is such a cutie! I loved hearing the sounds she is making. My daughter is almost 8 and I remember she vocalized like that when she was younger. I think it's a good sign and just one of the stages along the way to speaking "real" words. Marisa's SLP told me years ago that the gibberish shows a child has learned there is a certain cadence to language, and that it is a good step. Enjoy all the funny and amusing things she does now, my baby is still funny and amusing, but is turning into a big girl before my eyes.

We've been praying for your baby girl! I think she sounds like Boo from the Disney movie Monster's Inc.

So dang funny! She totally imitated you at one point when you said "Go get her" it sounded like she said, "I'n gonna go get her". Was she chasing Emma? It sounded like she was saying "Emma go!" A few times too. Anyway, Gracie totally jabbers like that all day, too. It is hilarious. She seriously seems to think we understand her. Which to be honest, most of the time, I do understand what she is saying. I think the adorable face expressions help. Anyway, thanks for making my day...once again!

I don't know if this would help you but my sister in-law is a speech pathologist and has an at home speech therapy tool you can subscribe to that may be helpful in working with your cutie at home. I have been using it with some of my daycare children and love it! I have a little angel like Ella and she loves the music and the cute characters on the site! I have been seeing some big improvements. You might give it a shot! Good luck, Vikki B., Indiana

That is unbelievably adorable! I vote for a translator until she merges into standard English! I actually understood a lot of what she was saying when she wasn't too busy laughing - then again I worked as a sped preschool teacher and a regular preschool teacher for years. I have heard, and been told off, in that language many times. :) Yet it never fails to make me smile! It is wonderful to see Ella so active and feeling well!!
