G-Tube Update

Well....Ella officially has a G-tube now. I think the most traumatic thing was prior to the procedure when I walked in to the procedure room and she seemed to know that something was up. But once they gave her the magic drugs, she slept peacefully. Within 15 minutes, the doctor came and got me from the waiting room. Ella was still asleep when I came in the recovery room but within a few minutes, she woke up and I think this was easiest wake up from a procdure yet. She started watching her video and talking to me like everything was fine. She is back in her room now and just hanging out. She doesn't appear to be in any significant pain. She was asking to get down on the floor but she has a drain coming off the G-tube for the next 10 hours or so and therefore I think we will need to stay put for the rest of today. So hopefully we get through a day or two of some pain and then we will be able to enjoy the benefits of having a G-tube. The plan is to give her a feed early tomorrow morning and as long as she tolerates it well, we should get the all clear to go home after that. Then we will have a home health nurse come out with supplies and get us all set up. Thanks for all the advice and support over this pain in the butt issue.

Here she is just minutes after the procdure. Still sleeping
peacefully in the recovery room.

Here she is about 30 minutes later back in her room
and watching movies.

I'm so glad this means you'll be on your way home soon! I was hoping she could avoid it, but her stomach needs to keep working...She looks great and I'm glad she did well with the procedure.

I'm so glad all went well today! I'll keep my fingers crossed for the feed in the morning and that you both are home by night fall!

It's hard to believe she was that perky 30 minutes after! If only Sweet Pea woke up from sedation that well!

Well, done Miss Ella! Welcome to the double-belly-button club!
Would you please ask your sweet nurses to send you home with some polymem? It's a pinkety pink wonder that will come in so handy for you when you're finally home. We're crossing our fingers and sending up prayers that you'll sleep in your own bed at home tomorrow night!

Just stopping by to wish you guys a happy thanksgiving, it's probably not the way you hoped it to be, but as long as Ella is getting what she needs and by that I mean on the road to health it's going to be the greatest Thanksgiving ever.

Just think how precious next year will be by which time I hope Miss Ella is going to be eating by mouth again!

Love you guys! Looks as if she made it thru the procedure without any problems. Yes, the decision is a difficult one, but you will be soooo glad, especially when you see it isn't a big deal at all. I am emotionally attached to Presley's and she doesn't even use it...LOL!
MAKES LIFE EASIER!
Love seeing the smiling precious face of the lovely Ella!
