Hmmmmmm....

Do you notice a theme here???? Diapers (don't worry, they are clean ones) seem to be Ella's latest comfort "blankie". She literally wants to be holding one all the time and goes to sleep clutching it as if it were a warm, fuzzy blanket. This child is getting stranger by the day.
No real progess on the eating front. She seems to be working better with her feeding therapist but there hasn't really been any great success in eating that would allow her to get off of her IV nutrition. They have weaned her down to about 12 hours a day so at least we can unhook her for a while each day. Her counts hit 0 yesterday and today was at a 14 so realistically we could be looking at going home by the end of this week. Normally I would be so excited at this prospect but because of these darn feeding issues, I find I am kind of hesitant. It sounds like they would more than likely send us home with the IV nutrition and she would be hooked up to for 12 hours a day...which at least we could do at night. But it sure takes away the excitement of the freedom at home. I keep hoping that maybe she will just start eating once we get home but I don't know if that is realistic. Other than that, Ella is doing well so I guess we should be thankful for that. Thanks again to everyone for all the prayers and supportive comments. They mean everything to us!!!

Hey, at least you don't have to worry about losing her blankie or stuffy! ;)

I hope she starts eating. I know how stressful feeding problems are. TPN is scary but if it gets her through these tough times, then it'll be worth it!

Too funny that she's preferring a diaper over a blanket. I wonder what the attraction is?

Glad to hear she's doing well.

Oh Ella thanks for the giggle, you are one silly girl!
Praying for the numbers to keep going in the right direction and her eating to take off!

Ella - you are a crack-up!

I am praying, praying, praying for those feeding issues to get resolved and for her counts to go back up. It would be so great for you to be able to be home for Thanksgiving! That is definitely my prayer for you guys!

And, I am also praying that you can be done with the next round by Christmas -- I don't know how feasible that is, but I know that God can do anything. I want you to be able to start 2011 chemo-free!

{{Hugs}} from NJ!

Silly Ella!!! Denise, just loving that she is in such good spirits! "Diaper" fetish and all=) Keeping our fingers crossed that a significant change regarding her feeding issues happens soon. I'm wondering if she will do better at home??!! I'm sure she is missing it=(

Thinking of you all and continuing to pray=)

we're praying you get to go home soon! She is absolutely adorable cuddling with that diaper, pretty weird, but pretty cute too. ;-)

So now the girl has a diaper fetish! Silly silly!
I'm hoping once she is home, maybe she'll take a bottle for her momma again. we can keep our fingers crossed!

Adorable! Have you tried McDonald's fries to see if she'll eat them? Just a thought.

Oh sweet girl...you and those diapers.

I agree with the other posters--she might eat better when you get home. Maybe just the strain of being there, you know? Dakin eats a ton better when we're not in the doc's office...so maybe.

Hugs to you guys!

Those photos gave me a good laugh! She looks like she made a Thanksgiving pilgrim hat in the first one!

I will continue to think positive eating thoughts! I'm glad that they have the IV down to 12 hours so that Ella can have a little freedom during the day. Her social duties to the floor are definitely hindered a little with the IV pole!

They seem to be all pampers, what if you changed to huggies? I'll be praying she starts to eat on her own.

The pictures killed me!!So funny.

As for the feeding, you sure know how I get that one.Certainly not saying chemo was Zoey's total feeding down fall but man it sure didn't make things easier.

My only advice, one I did not heed, was to keep trying with the feeding therapy, especially when home.

Met Sweet Pea today.Only briefly though. She sure is a cutie!

Love to you my friend.

O.k. so the diaper obsession continues as I can see...but these are the cutest pictures, I though she was wearing some kind of bonnet first until I looked closer, what a laugh. That child of yours is one of a kind!! Just love her. Praying for some progress with the feeding, that must be hard and totally understand how frustrating it must be having to drag the IV around. Keep the faith I am sure Ella will surprise us. Many hugs

At least get that girl a cloth diaper to snuggle with!! Haa haa - just kidding!!!!!! Seeing her snuggling with those diapers has to be one of cutest things I've ever seen. She's making due and coping the best way she can. She such an inspiration!!!!! HOpe the feeding issues get at least a little more resolved before it's time to go home so you don't have to deal with iv nutrition at home!!!! Hugs and prayers!

Ella always makes me smile...love the diaper pics! I was thinking that she might start eating when she gets home too, I bet that even though they don't complain too much they get tired of being in the hospital and maybe this is her way of protesting. For some reason Emily refuses to drink her milk at the hospital...same milk, same sippy cup, but she won't drink it, then we get home and she drinks it! Glad you might be going home later this week!

You got to admit..she looks darling hanging out with the diapers~you know your cute when you make diapers look cute :) Glad to see her smiling. Sad she's still not eating that great, but we'll keep praying that that will change real soon.

What a sweety. She is seriously cute, even with less hair. I hope it comes back soon. Ben is in the third day of his first hospital stay and I think of you often. We will be here for such a short time, compared to the time you guys have put in there. I pray your stays are as short as possible.
