Notice Anything About This Face?????

Yep!! You got it!! There is NOT an NG tube attached to it. That's right, attempt #2 was a complete failure!!! I am pretty sure that it was a record for the least amount of time a child has left one in. They got it placed in okay and put a few pieces of tape on and then let her rest because she was SCREAMING so hard while we held her down. While she "rested" she pulled it right out..immediately. Don't think it lasted a minute!! Oh, and did I mention that Ella was on Versed, a sedative, at the time. I was holding her arms down and it took all I had to keep her from moving around...I don't think the sedative worked!! Oh well....on to other things. Other things like praying that she will just start eating when she feels like it. Mouth sores are common in kids with chemo and although Ella hasn't had any before and we can't see any in her mouth, they can go all the way down the throat and into the stomach. So maybe she has some we just can't see that are causing her discomfort. Our other option is hoping the feeding therapy team can make some progress but I am not real hopeful on this account as Ella is quite resistive to them. Time will tell I guess.

Sorry, I know she really needs that NG tube, but I love it!!!! My Laynee would so have done the exact thing. By the way, the first thing I noticed was not the absent to but the present smile.

I'm so glad they have given up. I just could not imagine how she was going to allow that tube to stay! and I hated seeing those petechiae! I hope once she starts to feel better that her bottle will look more appealing, and she will eat again!

I hate that she won't eat...but I love this picture because it's like she's saying..."no one is going to stick a toobie in my nose and get away with it!" She's a feisty one! You might be right about the sores...she knows her own body and if she isn't ready to eat then it just won't happen...but I am hoping and praying she'll start soon!

I can't blame the lil stinker. I can't imagine having a feeding tube in. What is the next step?

Thinking about you all everyday.

I sent Ella a package today. I forgot to include a note explaining what if was. It is one of the activity bags we are making for the cancer unit here in our local hospital. I hope you bust out of there in time for Thanksgiving.

Oh sweet Ella- I hope she eats soon! And poor momma going through it with her. Abby had to be held down last spring for 40 minutes while they tried to get blood drawn from her. Poor lamb screamed so hard the entire time- I felt sick for her- and for your sweet Ella. Thank goodness she's such a fighter though right- it will come in handy- that stinkin fightin skill! Hugs-

Obviously Ella didn't want an NG tube covering her cute little face. Isn't it amazing how much strength such a little body has. Praying that sweet Ella will develop an appetite and want to eat something soon.
